Pissouri Bay and Village Information

For a tiny resort, Pissouri Bay packs in plenty of places to eat and drink, and things to do. As everything is within a short walk, the designated driver can have time off too. If you like to explore, that's also easy - with local car hire in addition to the airport operators, and the Limassol-Paphos motorway only a 5-minute drive.

Pissouri Beach

The beach has been awarded a European Blue Flag for cleanliness and amenities for 20 consecutive years. Ramps give access for wheelchairs and pushchairs, and a concrete path runs along the rear of the sands. There are free changing rooms, toilets and showers. The beach itself is a mixture of sand and pebbles.

Lifeguards aid safe swimming in the summer months. If you love watersports, there's plenty of choice. We particularly recommend Chris Watersports run by our friends Jeff and Mo - who even offer free WiFi at your sun lounger. For the truly adventurous, book a flyboard lesson to jet-propel you 30 feet above the waves.

From July to September small sections of the beach are cordoned off to protect turtle nests. Normally under cover of darkness with the assistance of 'Pissouri Turtlewatch', count yourself very lucky if you witness a daytime hatching!

site stats
Once discovered, many visitors return to Pissouri Bay year after year.  It has a good range of facilities, but has not been over-developed.  This appeals to families and couples alike.  There are only two hotels (the 4* Columbia Beach Hotel, and its sister, the luxurious 5* Columbia Resort) and some self-catering apartments and villas.

Restaurants and Tavernas

Limanaki serves high quality delicious Lebanese/Mediterranean cuisine, and is very popular, so book early (our firm favourite!)

Perry's has an extensive menu and always provides a warm welcome

Pissouri Bay Garden is a popular Indian restaurant

At Pizza Venetto you will find friendly service, generous pizzas and a takeaway option

The Vineleaf Tavern near the villa offers the usual Cypriot mega-portions.  Feel free to share! Traditional Cyprus Night music and dancing accompanied by a self-service Meze buffet is offered on Friday evenings from May to October.

There is also a Cyprus Night up the hill in Pissouri Village Square on Wednesday evenings.  A visit to this is recommended, for the food and atmosphere, as well as the entertainment.

The Columbia Beach Hotel and Columbia Resort have a range of restaurants and bars.

Kastro's has reopened after an extensive refurbishment

Yialos Tavern specialises in fish dishes

Other restaurants in the resort are Captain's Bay, Artemis, Ammos at Hylatio, and Ampeli at Ampelohori.

Agamemnon and The Old Customs House offer beachside snacks.

Skipper's Bar offers satellite tv coverage of major sporting events, including UK football.

The Beach

The beach has been awarded a European Blue Flag for cleanliness and its facilities.  Ramps give access to the beach, and a concrete path runs along the rear of the sands.

There is safe bathing in the bay, with lifeguards operating a flag system.  A wide variety of water sports is available from the western end of the beach.  These include windsurfing, kayaking, water skiing, jet skiing, sailing, pedalos, banana boat rides, paragliding and ring rides.  There are also boat trips to neighbouring beaches.

Loungers and parasols are available on the beach, which is part sand and part shingle, so it's helpful to bring beach shoes.

A sea breeze reduces temperatures in summer, making Pissouri the perfect resort for windsurfing and kite surfing.

In July and August, small sections of the beach may be cordoned off to protect turtles' nests.

Shops and Services

There are three minimarkets selling a comprehensive range of groceries, together with postcards and seaside sundries including international newspapers, Cypriot handicrafts, souvenirs, novels, maps and travel guides.

Varied holiday activities are catered for:

Pissouri Bay Divers offers scuba diving courses.

Make your own unique jewellery souvenirs or book a kite surfing expedition at Breeze Jewellery.

Columbia Resort Spa offers numerous pampering treatments

Relax with a coffee, cake or ice-cream at Michael's new Coffee Shop.

Treat yourself to a manicure, pedicure, reflexology or massage at Svetlana's Hair and Nail Salon.

Car Hire is available from several companies in Pissouri Bay and Pissouri Village including Select Car Rentals.

Perry's Travel can organise excursions such as trips within Cyprus, or tours to Egypt.

The Cooperative Bank has a small branch providing currency exchange facilities and an ATM.

In addition to the wi-fi available in the villa, broadband Internet access (and printing facilities) are also available at Michael's Coffee Shop in Pissouri Bay and Markos's Internet Café in Pissouri Village.

An excellent new Papantoniou supermarket/hypermarket recently opened in Pissouri Village.  Along with the usual supermarket staples, this has a butchery, fish counter, delicatessen, bakery, and large upstairs household goods department.  Open 08:00-21:00 daily (including Sundays).

A local shuttle bus service has started between Pissouri Village and Pissouri Bay.  Journeys cost €1.  Pick-up / drop-off points are outside the Columbia Hotel and the Internet Cafe.  Look out for a white Toyota minibus.  If it is well supported, hopefully the number of services will increase.
